So im not sure what happened here but somehow this damn list tricked me into watching the godfather again...This time it was kinda strange cuz throughout all the crappy gangster drama someone spliced a good movie about an Italian refugee making his way to the top in America. This was spoiled, however, by constantly showing clips from the godfather....not exactly sure what happened here.

The OMGodfather
Like OMG, this ultra classic film takes up second place on the list....the only thing this movie inspired in my was a dread at having to sit through another 8 hours of gangsters going around killing anyone that stood in their way no matter what.
The only thing this movie had more than characters was bullets implanted in said characters bodies.
I was quite impressed by the scene where Sonny gets out of his car and gets shot at least 1000 times by about 30 people that assumedly belonged to one of the other gangs in the city. It was maybe a bit overkill seeing as he was definitely dead after bullet number 234.
I admit, after the 300th death I started to lose my focus and stopped following who was killing who. Just because its a cult classic and Joe Cool told you that you simply MUST see this film, does not mean that you simply must see this film.

The shawshank redemption
The only redemption in this movie was the scene with the guy crawling 4 football fields through shit. In other words this final twist redeemed an otherwise long and predictable movie. Ok well it wasn't the worst movie i have ever seen but lets get one thing clear before I dive into this list....There are good movies and great movies...there are bad movies, and there are movies so terrible that they are funny (like the Shaggs to music). But finally there are hollywood movies. It doesn't really matter if they are good or bad, the good ones are still crap compared to good and great movies (and sometimes even compared to the terribly funny ones). Hollywood tends to make movies that follow the same pattern and in the end are quite predictable...quite like the shawshank redemption.
Now don't get me wrong these movies can be very entertaining and if your girlfriend just broke up with you, I can almost guarantee you that the movie will end well and you wont have to worry about tears being triggered due to your unbalanced emotional state.
All in all this movie, as anticipated, entertained and ended happily. On the other hand if you have just had your purse stolen, morgan freemans voice does wonders to sooth you out of shock.
If you do feel the need to watch some grown men break out of prison I highly recommend scratching this film off the list and watching "Escape from Alcatraz".

Why take the list challenge
I have always felt a certain joy in the absurd. I find it really funny to give myself challenges that are absurd enough that nobody else finds it funny. Lately this has manifested itself in the form of lists.
It started when I challenged myself to listen to all 29 AC/DC albums. This was funny for me (mostly because it annoyed my roomates), until AC/DC started to come across as the same 6 songs on repeat. This is when I first realized that AC/DC only wrote six songs and put them on 29 different albums in varying order and possibly changed the song title a few times...at that point I didn't feel like checking into it.
Anyways, back to the point (I don't intend this blog to have a lot of writing as that = work, which is something I have enough of and don't desire more of), this blog is intended to be an outlet for my reaction to absurd lists that I challenge myself to tick off...will I actually succeed in finishing any of these lists (my track record is not strong)? Who knows! Will I write something cynical, negative and possibly funny about each item I tick off...? You bet!
